volsync

Chainguard's redistribution of the VolSync Helm chart, pre-configured with hardened Chainguard Images. VolSync provides asynchronous data replication for Kubernetes persistent volumes across clusters, storage classes, and CSI drivers.

Prerequisites

Authentication is required. First, authenticate with Chainguard:

chainctl auth login
chainctl auth configure-docker --pull-token --save
helm registry login cgr.dev

Create an image pull secret in the namespace where VolSync will be installed:

kubectl create secret docker-registry cgr-pull-secret \
  --docker-server=cgr.dev \
  --docker-username="$(echo cgr.dev | docker-credential-cgr get | jq -r '.Username')" \
  --docker-password="$(echo cgr.dev | docker-credential-cgr get | jq -r '.Secret')" \
  --namespace volsync-system

Installation

helm install volsync oci://cgr.dev/ORGANIZATION/charts/volsync \
  --namespace volsync-system \
  --create-namespace \
  --set imagePullSecrets[0].name=cgr-pull-secret

About This Chart

This is a redistribution of the upstream VolSync Helm chart. All upstream configuration options and documentation apply. The chart installs the VolSync operator, which reconciles ReplicationSource and ReplicationDestination custom resources to move data using rclone, restic, rsync, rsync-tls, or syncthing movers — all bundled in the same Chainguard volsync image.
