VictoriaMetrics Agent

Chainguard's redistribution of the victoria-metrics-agent Helm chart, pre-configured with hardened Chainguard Images. vmagent is a lightweight agent that scrapes metrics from various sources and remote-writes them to VictoriaMetrics or Prometheus-compatible backends.

Prerequisites

Authentication is required. First, authenticate with Chainguard:

chainctl auth login
chainctl auth configure-docker --pull-token --save
helm registry login cgr.dev

Create an image pull secret:

kubectl create secret docker-registry cgr-pull-secret \
  --docker-server=cgr.dev \
  --docker-username="$(echo cgr.dev | docker-credential-cgr get | jq -r '.Username')" \
  --docker-password="$(echo cgr.dev | docker-credential-cgr get | jq -r '.Secret')" \
  --namespace default

Installation

helm install victoria-metrics-agent oci://cgr.dev/ORGANIZATION/charts/victoria-metrics-agent \
  --namespace default \
  --create-namespace \
  --set global.imagePullSecrets[0].name=cgr-pull-secret \
  --set 'remoteWrite[0].url=http://victoria-metrics-single-server:8428/api/v1/write'

About This Chart

This is a redistribution of the upstream victoria-metrics-agent chart. All upstream configuration options apply. A remoteWrite target is required for vmagent to forward scraped metrics.
